Review of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016) by Jerome K — 28 Feb 2017
Ehhh... kind of a lackluster end to a long-running franchise. If you are jumping in for the first time with this film, there's a decent amount of exposition to catch you up. However, that doesn't add up into any moments that make you actually care for any of the characters in the film.
The only person they try to get you invested in is Alice, and I've always found her to be such a one-dimensional protagonist. The potential that the previous film set up is jettisoned quickly, and none of the other RE heroes come back save one.
To be honest, I've found that to be the trend with the RE film franchise: ignoring the plethora of characters and stories from the video games to create something original but ultimately less compelling.
