Review of Resident Evil (2002) by Lewis W — 10 Feb 2015
Ok, here's the thing, I was pretty excited at that time, that this film has made. I played all the RE games on PlayStation and now here comes the film. At first I was like, ok this is pretty legit, then as scenes goes on and on, I was waiting and waiting, then suddenly here comes what they called "The Hive".
I was like, "wtf is that?". Suddenly, I recently found out that it was directed by Paul W.S Anderson. And that starts the ruining of the franchise. Though, when I re-watched it again, I thought it's not bad, just don't mind the game's resemblance of this.
There are some shockers, and that laser thing is pretty unique for its time. Definitely a B-grade, we expect that from a Paul W.S Anderson flick. It's an okay, guilty pleasure. There are zombies (obviously), more zombies, and wild infected dogs.
With overused theme and settings, such as labs, underground, and t-virus w/ cure. It's still, a good popcorn action / horror. But at the same time, it is also bad for the RE franchise. 3/5.
