Review of Reservoir Dogs (1992) by Erik D — 05 Feb 2016
This was the one! The legendary film that made Tarantino the king of dialogue. At least that's what everyone says about it. As you may have guessed from the rating that you've already seen, I wasn't a fan.
Tarantino films (from the five I've now seen) are very hit or miss for me. I see a lot of similarities between this film and his latest, The Hateful Eight. Both films obviously were almost entirely dialogue, but Reservoir Dogs was just so uninteresting and I really did not like the ending.
The Hateful Eight was excellent in making me care about each character equally while making me laugh all the way. Reservoir Dogs was easy to figure out and I really did not care at all about most of the characters.
The film was brutal and at times mildly clever like the others he's created, but I really cannot say I ever fully enjoyed this movie. I plan to watch Pulp Fiction soon as well so we'll see if that one lives up to everything I've heard.
