Review of Reservation Road (2007) by Jarrod L — 18 May 2008
Great movie! Best since No Country for Old Men. It's a hybrid of Changing Lanes and Mystic River with great acting from Jennifer Connelly (best performance since Waking The Dead...she should've had more screen time) and Joaquin phoenix.
It has some really powerful moments in it like Mystic River and the dual protagonist element like Changing Lanes, but the end was more painfully real and in some ways anti-climactic. There isn't a lot of action, it's 100% drama and very realistic.
Don't buy it though, because it has a protection layer that won't allow most DVD players to even play it (1 of my 5 players played it). Most people that bought/rented it couldn't even watch it.
In an effort to stop piracy, they are almost forcing you to find a way to illegally download it just to watch it. It's a shame because it's a good movie worth buying.
