Review of Rescue Dawn (2007) by Sandy R — 21 Nov 2010
A very solid film that has a great cast. Ultimately though, there is little here to distinguish itself from the other war flicks out there.
The tone is a little uneven and for a POW story, the hardship endured by the prisoners is handled with a subtlety where perhaps it needed a little more emphasis. That being said, the cast are all on good from, Bale does his thing with ease and the way he prtrays Deiter's belief in his escape plan is undeniably convincing. Steve Zahn and Jeremy Davies (is there anyone else out there who can play quirky like this guy?) are both on very good form as well.
A really good watch, just don't expect anything groundbreaking.
