Review of Requiem for the American Dream (2015) by Judy W — 10 May 2016
This movie is important in that it shows why income is stagnant, why there are no jobs, why we elect officials from both parties and nothing really gets effectively done. Wages are stagnant. There is no middle class.
If there is a bubble or a bust, the people get higher taxes and have to pay for mistakes of the obscenely rich. It makes no sense. This movie explains why our country is in the shape it is in. The politicians are discussing things that have no relevance to the majority of our lives.
Racism is not what is causing the pain and suffering; no jobs and self interest on the part of big business and lobbyists are. It is not government by the people for the people--it is government by the big business for the big business and the poor can pay the taxes and pay for the mistakes of the rich.
While you may not agree with the author about what will fix the problem--I am not sure I do---He has analyzed and assessed it well. Every single United States citizen should watch this film before they vote.
They should watch it now. As I said, you may not agree with what will solve the problem, but you will know what is causing it.
