Review of Requiem for a Dream (2000) by Sumit S — 09 Nov 2012
One of the most powerful, shocking & extremely intense films I've ever seen, Requiem for a Dream is a brilliant tale depicting different forms of addiction, leading to characters imprisonment in a dream world of delusion & reckless desperation, which is then overtaken & devastated by reality.
The film is presented in 3 phases: Summer, Fall & Winter, each showing the progression of addiction. Director Darren Aronofsky has done a great job & cinematography brings new techniques & the score by Clint Mansell is among the greatest soundtracks ever.
The last half hour of the film is among the most harrowing ever but the ending leaves a huge impression, in fact a huge scar which you're proud to wear. Strongly recommended.
