Review of Requiem for a Dream (2000) by Brett J — 06 Feb 2013
This is my second favorite movie of all-time. I believe this movie should be shown to children to disinterest kids in drugs. It shows at the beginning of the movie the immediate positives of drugs but as the movie progresses the lives of the drug addicts come spiraling downward into a pile of self-loathing and despair.
The direction is done so beautifully by Darren Aronofsky that I feel it should be playing in a museum. Jared Leto and Jennifer Connelly are both great as lovers trying to conquer addiction together and Marlon Wayans gives the best performance he will EVER give.
Ellen Burstyn as Sara Goldfarb is a shining achievment in acting in the modern era. Bravo I say to her performance. And finally the score, which is the greatest I have ever heard. The music itself explains the story.
In closing watch this movie for a true understanding of life and addiction.
