Review of Requiem for a Dream (2000) by Brett H — 28 Oct 2013
Bar none, one of the most intense, riveting, beautiful, and unforgettable films you'll ever see that holds back nothing and delivers one of the most uncomfortable viewing experiences in film. This is Darren Aronofsky's masterpiece and the brilliant score (that is used everywhere now) and his rapid-cut style complete the whole picture in a way that's really never been topped.
All the actors do superb work, particularly Ellen Burstyn who gives everything she's got to her tragic character. In no way would I recommend this film to everyone due to the grotesque visuals and blunt depiction of addiction, but my god, it's an experience every fan of film MUST see.
