One of the most interesting things about Repulsion is the fact that we really don't know what's wrong with Carol. Of course, it is slowly revealed to us through her delusions and actions in the latter half of the film, but for a good part of it, we're anxiously waiting for something astounding to happen. Ultimately, Polanski doesn't quite deliver substance-wise, but he still provides some intriguing moments. Carol's fear of sex (and contact, really) has been replicated in countless films, which have become known as psychological thrillers.

The film reminds me a lot of May and Images, which I watched earlier this year. I know Repulsion had an influence on both of them.
