Review of Repulsion (1965) by Jake M — 06 Aug 2011
Terrifying! Terrifying! Terrifying! One of the best psychological horror movies I have ever seen. Rarely do we get a look at what going crazy actually would feel like. This movie takes you down this rabbit hole and, when you want to stop, it keeps you going down into the depths of insanity.
Roman Polanski's first English language film and his best, in my opinion. Eraserhead and Pi are influenced and comparable to it, however, I think neither were as horrifying as this one (hint hint sometimes black and white is creepier).
Pay attention to the subtle but giant twist within the last 5 minutes, it might take a quick rewind to get it.
