Review of Repulsion (1965) by Emile H — 25 Oct 2017
By putting the iconic Catherine Deneuve into an empty apartment and giving us a look into the mind in all its surreal expressions, Roman Polanski conveys personal anxieties how hardly any other director is able to.
The descent into madness; the difficulty to separate reality and inner torment; the harshness of its psychological effects; the audience is subjected to it all. It doesn't hold back and there is no absolute reason why it shouldn't.
Why ignore when the moments are being realized this way?
