Review of Repulsion (1965) by Simon D — 11 Mar 2012
I really didn't know that they made films like this back in 1965. This is a bit messed up really. I understood it as a film about a girl who develops Androphobia but, as I read above, it is a "repulsion" to sex, fair enough.
I figured the former was the case as the family photograph depicts the girl looking unhappy and distant, as if he childhood was to blame, I assumed, her father. The film is really well directed for it's time and is pretty haunting throughout.
I didn't like the fact that we had no introduction to the main character and, as she hardly spoke, we didn't learn too much about her. I think a little too much was left for the viewer to decide really.
