Review of Repulsion (1965) by David L — 31 May 2014
Repulsion is a psychological thriller that is a sort of a successor to Psycho, it is a very efficient, bold, tense, well-acted and quite profound look at mental breakdown leaving you with many interpretations owing to a smart script and approach.
The problems here are twofold: the build-up is overlong and even defeats the purpose and the lack of sound effects or music in tense situations is unfortunate. But it is an overall strong film, a groundbreaking film for both the genre and the director and actress.
