Review of Repulsion (1965) by Daniel C — 04 Nov 2008
Polanski seems to have cornered the market on women going crazy in their apartments. We've all seen people go crazy in the movies. But here, Polanski forces us to take the journey into madness with our protagonist.
Rather than just be observers, he allows us to experience the fear, paranoia, and insanity first hand. We feel the claustraphobia set in amidst waking lucid dreams where even our most passionate screams come out silent.
Now I'm going to go to sleep and dream about ringing phones, dripping water, cracking walls, and hands coming out from everywhere, groping at my naughty bits.
