The most engrossing story of a woman tortured by her past trauma of sexual abuse ever filmed. Unloved and objectified by men, her inner torture becomes the sad reality of her life--she is no schizophrenic.
Polanski masterfully plunges the audience into her life and her inner struggles, which eventually overtake her fragile innocent mind and drive her to kill those who abused her in her past--men. This is a 1965 take on mental illness, and how far have we really come in our understanding 50 years later?
