Review of Reprise (2006) by Kevin L — 10 Jan 2008
A little weak and overzealous at first, but turns out nicely. The tandem present, future, and possible-future device starts off feeling stale, but is soon integrated smoothly with the hopes, failures, and often fragmented relationships between a pair of writers and their companions.
The film clearly recognizes the familiar feelings anyone actively persuing their dreams struggle with; rejection, the need for affirmation, the proximity of neurosis, and watching those close to you shift and change unpredictably.
Despite some stylistic shortcomings, it was very satisfying!
