Review of Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008) by Eytan D — 15 Dec 2012
"Repo! The Genetic Opera" has been said to be "Blade Runner" meets "Sweeney Todd," and that is an accurate description in my book. Is it equal to the cult status of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show?" Of course not.
But alone, it is a very entertaining, well-sung, gory, and fun horror opera that I can enjoy over and over again. The concept of the film is very intriguing, and when you have the vocal likes of Anthony Head (of "Buffy" fame), Paul Sorvino and Sarah Brightman ("Phantom" on Broadway), you can't go wrong.
The "Mamma Mia" and "Dreamgirls" enthusiasts will probably be split on "Repo," but this one goes highly recommended!
