Review of Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008) by Lisette B — 16 Mar 2010
Despite the tepid lyrics, this splattergoth film is visually stunning and features kick ass music and phenomenal singing (Sarah Brightman, Paul Sorvino, and Anthony Stewart Head). Costumes are brilliant and the narrative pacing is tight.
The repossesing- bodily-organs idea isn't original since Monty Python had a skit about this same idea years ago, but it's definitely expanded in this film. This is one opera I'll frequently watch.
