Review of Repo Man (1984) by Kevin O — 26 Jun 2008
There is an Unwrtiten rule in Movies (well American ones anyway) that if Harry Dean Stanton features in them they are barring one or 2 exceptions pretty darn good.
This here is Harry's finest hour ,as the mentor to Emilio Estevez he gets to deliver a knockout performance as Bud a gard a s nails Repo man.
When they become embrolied in Aliens and the Government the film gets weireder and weirder but yet somehow remains a bloody good watch.
Alex Cox who's first film this was fill the cast with cult movie actors such as Tracey Walter and Sy Richardson and keeps the film interesting and funny to boot.
Cox would later make some interesting films ,but this is still his best work and fully deserving of its cult status.
