Review of Rendition (2007) by Vera B — 09 Mar 2010
When I saw Gyllenhaal, shirtless and flexing in one of the opening scenes, I said to myself: "Ah crap, here we go." Expecting this to be another one of those pseudo-humanitarian, good-career-move type of endeavors (which are generally better than nothing, but certainly not by much).
And if we're to scrutinize, we'll find a few traces of disingenuous moves here, sure. All in all however, I found this to be a picture that's not only timely, but quite tasteful, believable and pretty even-handed to boot.
If a bit forgettable.
