Review of Rendition (2007) by Crystal T — 13 Dec 2008
None of the actors (apart from Streep, who was still only one-dimensional) had the acting 'weight' to carry off this desperately-wanting-to-be-worthy-film. Witherspoon just sulked her way through it and Gyllenhaal wandered around aimlessly looking for his motivation - or maybe the script.
Important subject - we know it goes on and we know its ethically, morally and legally 'dodgy' - but the film didn't really go anywhere or know whose point of view we should be siding with.
Messy and muddled.
