Review of Renaissance (2006) by Anthony C — 22 Jan 2008

Pretty impressive. A French production (yet oddly, when I saw it in the theatre it was dubbed in English, and even odder, when I saw a French copy on video, the voice / animation sync was incredibly distracting.

Whattup with that?). *ahem*. I quite like the visual style, though since it's almost entirely in black & white, it made some parts hard to view visually, but all totally worth it. I will have to rewatch it (sadly in the English version) to get a better handle on the story, it's a lot to take in visually & conceptually in one sitting, but definitely worth the investment of repeat viewings, though maybe spaced out a bit.

I could potentially return and rate this higher (or lower, I guess) based on a firmer grasp of the story.
