Review of Renaissance (2006) by Erik G — 28 Apr 2009
Visually amazing film references other dystopian scifi classics, esp "Metropolis" and "Blade Runner" but in a totally new way. Plot and characters rise above being pure cardboard cutouts, but the chiaroscuro animation is clearly the star of the show.
From huge scenes like a car chase through Paris on transparent bridges to tiny details like snowflakes falling out of a black sky, practically every scene was a showstopper and unlike anything I have ever seen before on film.
The music added to the overall experience . . . I only wish I had seen it on a big screen, or at least on a large HD TV.
