Review of Religulous (2008) by Oliver E — 30 Mar 2013
I love this documentary and I've watched it several times and it's very entertaining and it's very funny, but for me Religulous is a perfect example of a documentary that will go to any extreme to make its opinion appear as though it's the only logical one out there.
There are countless interviews Bill Maher gives where he'll ask a good question and the person he's interviewing will begin to give an answer and I was curious to see where they'd go with their answer but before they could even finish their statement, they're edited out.
Bill Maher exploits and mocks the people who agreed to give him his interview, which isn't what a good documentary does. Bill does make many very good points toward his case against religion but he never even gives any one else a chance to defend themselves.
He cuts too much and too quickly, trying to cover it up with a joke. I think this is the type of documentary for atheists only, when they're in a bad mood and want to have a laugh.
