Review of Religulous (2008) by Hannah M — 08 Sep 2011
I didn't realize that Religulous and Borat share the same director, but while watching the film I found myself constantly comparing the exploitative, edit-heavy style of Religulous to Borat. The ideas presented here are not especially revelatory, nor will they change anyone's mind - as evidenced by Maher's many encounters with the unenlightened in the film.
But the point is most assuredly not to change anyone's mind; despite what Maher claims about the film being a wake-up call to America's non-believers, Religulous is primarily entertainment, right down to the subversively ridiculous ending.
