Review of Reindeer Games (2000) by Tom R — 25 Dec 2010

Reindeer Games is a great guilty pleasure in my book. A lot of people dislike the implausible plot and it's not given a fair shot since a lot of people are simply anti-Ben Affleck. I know it's got a far-fetched plot, but it's got great filmmaking, funny dialog, amusing acting, and comedic moments that make up for it.

I enjoyed the tilted camera angles and deep focus cinematography that focused on close-ups of characters... in this movie, it was stylish and suspenseful and very much like a Frankenheimer movie. Also Gary Sinise is a great bad guy but his henchmen steal the show (I love mildly overweight black guy who says "Man, they got a s**tload of cookies").

The twist is unbelievable; but so is the rest of the movie. As far as Christmas Action movies go, it's not as classic as Die Hard, but I really think it's worth a viewing. Don't take it seriously, then Reindeer Games will be a guilty pleasure to you too.
