Review of Reign Over Me (2007) by Nathan M — 02 Mar 2011
Adam Sandler is simply remarkable. This is one of the most powerful films ever made. Cheadle and Sandler have good chemistry between them. The storyline was really strong and the acting was good. Probably Sandler's most dedicated role to serious as he gets. It's never clear whether Charlie will fully recover, and that sense of realism is the film's strength. The incredibly moving post-9/11 drama Reign Over Me proves that behind the funny guy facades of former standup comedians Mike Binder and Adam Sandler are a pair of very serious talents. It's a courageous, moving, organically funny picture. Genuinely touching, meticulously well-acted friendship parable, and a big audience pleaser.
VERDICT: "Full Price" - Second highest rating in the system (Positive to Mixed reaction). This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theater to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent...
