Review of Reds (1981) by Kok Hoong F — 14 Jun 2012
Nominated for 12 Oscars (winning 4), this is the kind of movies Oscars love to honor. Long and handsome-looking epics. This is nevertheless Warren Beatty's labour of love (he writes, directs and acts) about John Reed, a man whose relentless passion in life and romance may as well mirrors his.
The politics-talk and the long running length (at 194 minutes) are likely to alienate many mainstream audience but it should not discount the fact that it is also very finely made.
