Review of Reds (1981) by Anthony V — 12 Jun 2007
A lengthy but important film made about the socialist revolution through the eyes of American journalists. The love story is potent but it is not a love born out of physical attraction or mutual affection, it is a strong and unapologetic love for the same cause.
Keaton and Beatty remind us of the old Hollywood greats. This is film-making at its absolute, raw best. Watch. You will forget entirely that it was made in 1981 and not 2001. A yearning, sweeping story, perfectly delivered.
Sure to empassion (it almost brought my modern drama class to blows), Reds is a classic for all time.
