Review of Redbelt (2008) by Len H — 02 Jan 2009
David Mamet has some good ideas, and he's thoughtfully engaged in the question of manliness. The problem is that his films consistently and ludicrously betray his own lack of manliness (and concomitant misogyny).
Not to mention (the related phenomena of) his often distractingly unnatural dialogue, characters, and plots. This film is no exception. No doubt it forms a (second-rate) trilogy with JCVD and The Wrestler.
