Red State is preposterous, and its frantic camera work and editing do nothing to help the film, but Smith finds an interesting subject matter. His typical "fuck it" attitude is on full display here, using excessive violence and language to convey his feelings towards current issues in American society.
At times it can be a little too much, but it is entertaining to watch.
