Review of Red State (2011) by Jacob S — 22 Oct 2012
I sometimes wonder why this one gets considered as a horror movie when it has very few scary moments. If anything, it's more of a suspenseful drama. Overall, the movie was...okay. There are two brilliant performances from John Goodman and Michael Parks, but other than that, most of the movie felt a little forced.
I will say this though; when it comes to scenes that are meant to scare people, this movie has one scene that has made me more uncomfortable than any other movie ever has. I won't tell you which one it is, but if you've seen this movie already, than you probably know which one I'm talking about.
Is it a good Halloween horror movie? Not really, but it's worth watching at least once for the performances by Parks and Goodman.
