Review of Red Sparrow (2018) by David O — 14 Mar 2018
Although the story in some ways comes full circle, with a somewhat clever ending, it feels like the film makers never knew where the story was heading, making for a mixed bag where the audience is left not knowing who to support.
Jennifer Lawrence as usual delivers but the slew of British actors doing Russian accents especially following Gary Oldman's over the top performance in last years the Hitmans Bodyguard, all comes across as shoe horned in.
The story itself can be uncomfortable and in someways distasteful, questioning how much you enjoy the content as Lawrence's character accurately puts it when she says she was sent to "slut school".
