Review of Red Sorghum (1988) by Alex P — 21 Jul 2007
This is a gorgeous movie that shows much of what was to come from Zhang Yimou, including his fascination with color and long relationship with Li Gong.
Zhang also shows amazing patience in establishing the setting for this film, which, from a different director, could be mistaken for the mistake of a first-time director, but in this case makes the Japanese invasion all that much more startling.
