Review of Red Sorghum (1988) by Lars L — 14 Jan 2013
A lot blander than the book. Too long on artistic licence, too short on gratuitous nudity (Gong Li was quite the stunner back then). Fascinating that many of the names are completely different from the book.
Finally, one can't help but wonder what a director like Kurosawa would have done with this material and the beautiful filming locations.
