Review of Red Road (2006) by Petra S — 22 Dec 2008
A very biographical camera in this film. Always zoned on this one person, and why? What's so special about this one girl. The main character, Jackie, played by character Kate Dickie, is a surveillance operator who finds her past life memory reactivated when she sees a past man on camera that she once was with.
Yes, you guessed it, the game of following happens. Andrea Arnold (director), tries to capture a the character of a woman who wants to confront a man from her past life, and set things straight. The gritty Glasgow is well captured, but it's not exactly entertaining, throught the whole movie you might feel just ticked to hell because you are just waiting to understand why Jackie is following this man.
At the end Arnold gives a good fatal blow to the mind of her tragedy once the audience learns it so its worth the wait, but if you don't like aching suspence don't even bother!!
