Review of Red Riding Hood (2011) by Jason C — 13 Sep 2012
Okay, I'll agree Red Riding Hood is not Academy Award worthy. The title charcter's wealthy "groom to be" is unconvincing and her mother displays poor character talking to her daughter's true lover like he's the anti-Christ.
The guy who killed a werewolf played by Gary Oldman is also a tool and jackass for doing such things as making a kid who can barely speak get tortured to death unless he tells him the location of the town's witch.
Yeah that's fair and it's sure to entertain the audience. But on the bright side, this guy does wind up getting what he deserves. On a more serious note, this movie does have its flaws and I can understand why people wouldn't like it.
However, for a 19 year old guy who watched a film intended for preteen and teenage girls, I found this to be a very exciting movie. The best thing about this film is its suspense and the mystery of trying to find out the identity of the wolf that keeps its viewers guessing to the very end.
With its various unfortunate flaws, Red Riding Hood is still an enjoyable movie and I would recommend it to hardcore fans of thriller and horror films.
