Review of Red Planet (2000) by Kenny W — 08 Aug 2010
In some ways feels authentic, but their obstacles to survival . . . I know you want tension in a story, but this was one UNLUCKY mission to be on: their landing craft crashes, they fight with each other, they nearly suffocate, there may be a dangerous life form on the planet AND (for its own reasons) their robot explorer turns homicidal.
(It's really counter-intuitive to bring a machine that potentially deadly with them. It makes as much sense as carrying the explosives up the mountain in "Vertical Limit." You might as well invite Hannibal Lecter to your wedding with the logic that "if no one makes sudden moves around him, everything should be fine.
").
