Review of Red Lights (2012) by George K — 04 Mar 2013
Robert De Niro, Sigourney Weaver and Cillian Murphy! Well the cast is fine and in fact Murphy and Weaver acquit themselves rather well, all things considered, but it says a lot about De Niro's achievements in the 70's and to a lesser extent in the 80's and 90's that I STILL harbour hopes that he will pull a great performance out of the bag.
It becomes clear fairly early on that this was never going to be De Niro's return to form. Instead he shows up for a relatively short screen time and eases his way through proceedings. Not that he had much going for him, the film is ludicrous, tedious and is capped off by a ridiculous twist for those who have the patience to stay the duration.
