Review of Red Heat (1988) by Jordan T — 17 Nov 2008
UGH! I'd probably play chicken with a charter bus if I was a teen during the 80s b/c how many "buddy cop" films can you make? Seriously, pick a new genre Walter Hill. Oooh let's switch out the funny and popular black actor (Eddie Murphy) and replace him with a popular foreign action star (Arnold).
The DVD cover inspired me to buy this used for $3, but this was pretty boring and not epic enough to earn cult status in my book. Contains some nice one liners, but Belushi (who I usually stand up for) was God awful.
At least 90% of his dialogue contains an expletive and that's just unnecessary. Arnold is the only thing that carries this movie, but it's just terrible. I can't believe this was actually filmed on location in the Red Square, you had to know the Soviet was falling apart based on that.
