Review of Red Heat (1988) by Dann M — 06 May 2012
Red Heat is a problematic action/comedy that doesn't quite know where it's going. The story follows a Russian police captain who comes to America to track down a drug lord that is running shipments from Chicago to Moscow.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, James Belushi, and Gina Gershon all give solid performance, but they don't have any chemistry together. The film style is all over the place, from buddy cop, to rogue warrior, to cross-cultural comedy.
Red Heat is a mess of a film that provides some good action, but it doesn't have much to with it.
