Review of Red Eye (2005) by Colin H — 30 Jun 2011
A very straight-forward thriller story by Wes Craven; a woman is taken hostage and blackmailed on board a plane flight so that an organisation can have a senator assassinated.
This film features two very capable actors, Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy, who do well with what little originality the story holds. There are some good lines of dialogue throughout between the two, and Murphy plays both the intriguing run-of-the-mill passer by and the hostage taker very well.
Most of the film plays out within the plane, and the final act is a chase, but I felt the setup for the conspiracy could have been stronger as when everything was laid out I felt confused as to what was being said. Otherwise not bad, but not great either.
