Review of Red Dragon (1965) by Andrew G — 26 Sep 2009
There was absolutely no chance that Red Dragon was going to leave a scratch on the previous masterpiece known as the Silence of the Lambs, but it makes a valiant effort in being its own film and succeeds whilst also being overshadowed.
Edward Norton as Will Graham, despite how much effort he's putting into the role, is not anywhere near as likeable as Jodie Foster's Clarice Starling. The story is great and once again Anthony Hopkins provides a better than flawless performance as the insane Hannibal Lecter.
This is how a novel adaptation should be done, not overshadowing the original book, yet still sticking close to the source material.
