Review of Red Desert (1964) by Zoran S — 16 Sep 2009
I'd have to watch it again or think about it more to know what to make of it. It's not the type of film that lends itself to an immediate reaction. I suppose I will just say I found it to be a cracked viewing experience: certain moments are so formally amazing and beautiful that I thought I was watching one of the few films that completely alters the grammar of constructing space on screen.
On the other hand, its story of bourgeois ennui is rather dull and slightly shallow.
