Review of Red Desert (1964) by Peter F — 10 Sep 2011
One of Antonioni's most accomplished works. The Red Desert is an astounding achievement in cinematography as the film is able to make the presence of factories and machinary look like pure beauty. I'll subtract half-a-star though as the story and dialogue don't quite mesh with the message that Antonioni is trying to convey through the visuals.
