Review of Red Dawn (2012) by Bill P — 02 Dec 2013
So this not only sat on the shelf for a couple of years but they also spent a small fortune changing the bad guys from Chinese to North Korean so as to not cut off that potentially lucrative box office. So what do we get for the delay and added expense?
Not a lot to be honest. The whole film reeks of 'whats the point?' Yes the original film has dated and is very much of its time but that is now part of its charm. I see no such future for this update and like many of the remakes, reboots and new adaptations that have filled the multiplexes since the turn of the century this will be consigned to a mere footnote in cinemas history and at best 'that film that Thor was in before he got famous'.
If you have any love of Milius or the original avoid like the load drunk girl at the party.
