What I give Red Dawn props for is a daring story idea and being surprisingly gritty. Even the IDEA that the U.S. could be successfully invaded for anytime might have killed this movie in the minds of audiences.
I enjoyed the grit of it:heroes dying, killing their own, parent's being avenged, women soldiers. It isn't a happy ra-ra war movie and It has surprisingly good effects to boot.
