Review of Red Dawn (1984) by Tommy H — 29 Mar 2015
This was a cool movie. Big, dumb and it pisses off liberals. The fun aspect of the movie reminded me of Independence Day, and I genuinely liked all the survivalism. If it had less action and more of a focus on kids hiding in the woods and their perspective on war I'd give it a few more stars.
Instead of philosophy we get emotional scenes which are easier to pull off, and are another reason it reminds me of Independence Day. I haven't seen the remake yet, but judging by the score I'm guessing it's just as dumb.
