Review of Red Dawn (1984) by Chad D — 29 Jun 2013
This is one of those movies that couldnâ??t have been made at any other time than the early eighties, leaning heavily on cold war paranoia and the so-called threat of communism. After joining forces, Americaâ??s top two communist poster children, Cuba & Russia invade U.
S. soil. The film starts with an explanation of the events leading up to World War III, we move to a small peaceful town, then the next minute paratroopers are dropping from the sky, chaos shortly follows.
A small group of teenagers take to the nearby mountains to hideout, but after discovering several of their parents are dead or missing, they become a militia group striking back at their invaders. There are a few moments that are a little rubbish, but as a whole itâ??s a good idea, played fairly well, and also stars a young Patrick Swayze and an even younger Charlie Sheen.
